Olga & Teresa Fernandez

Teresa and Olga Fernández, known as the Fernandez Sisters began to participate in the Mercado in May 2018. Since then, they have worked together sharing with us their delicious quesadillas and fresh waters, and very recently tortas (Mexican sandwiches).

Mercado after Mercado we always notice the work and effort of the Fernandez sisters and we are captivated by their collaboration. For that reason, we asked them to share with us how they work together. Teresa says, “We always go shopping together and if there is a moment that one of us cannot, the other takes responsibility for buying what is necessary. In itself, neither of us does more than the other.”

The sisters are also thinking about setting up a family business. Olga says, “I have always been fascinated with cooking and now that I am in the Mercado, it becomes more possible for me to see myself in a business.” They feel inspired and excited to see their children eager to participate when they are selling at the Mercado because their “children learn that to have something requires a sacrifice and in the end they get excited, too.”
